Before Fame
He initially undertook Islamic studies with his father, memorizing the Quran and learning Arabic. He went to St. John's College (Harare) for senior school and studied Jurisprudence and Shariah in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. He specialised post grad in the Hanafi School of thought in Darul Uloom Kantharia in Gujarat, India. The Hanafi branch is one of four major schools of Islam within the Sunni belief.
Trivia
In 2018 he published a collection of his sayings as a book, Motivational Moments and in the year 2019, published a second edition. He was listed as one of The 500 Most Influential Muslims in 2014 and 2017. He opposes terrorism, urging Muslims to avoid Muslim-Christian violence, and blaming western media for propagating the idea that all Muslims are terrorists. He has made discriminatory statements about the LGBTQ+ community, but his website currently states that he supports the community and retracts his previous statements.

He was born in Salisbury, Rhodesia to an Indian Muslim family of Gujarati ancestry.
