American poet, novelist and editor. Her poetry collections include Other People's Comfort Keeps Me Up At Night, There are More Beautiful Things than Beyoncé, and Magical Negro. Before Fame
She was born and raised in Southern California. She completed her bachelor's degree in anthropology and creative writing at Columbia University. She got her MFA in poetry from New York University.
