About
Activist known for being the creator of the Transgender Pride Flag. She also founded the Transgender American Veterans Association (TAVA) and in 2004 became the first transgender woman to be nominated as a delegate at the Democratic National Convention.
Before Fame
She served in the U.S. Navy from 1970 to 1978 and was stationed on two submarines, the USS Francis Scott Keys and the USS Flasher. In 1987, she graduated with a General AA degree and an AA in Industrial Television degree from Glendale Community College in Arizona.
Trivia
She is the first woman to join the United States Submarine Veterans, Inc. She is a model rocket enthusiast.

She is married to the transgender scientist Darlene Darlington Wagner, Ph.D.
