His account has amassed more than 3.9 million followers to his videos where he interviews and asks customers trivia questions when they enter the bodega and award them various prizes for their efforts.

He and his family owned The Lucky Candy Bodega. When he began his giveaways in 2020, he was fronting the bill for the items he gave out to customers out of his own pocket.

Family Life

Born Ahmed Alwan, he goes by Medy. His father, Saleh Obad, is the original owner of the store and helped him found Blessing in a Backpack to give back to the youth of the community.
