South African politician who is known for having served as the 3rd Premier of Gauteng from 1999 until 2008. He is also known for having been a member of the United Democratic Movement political party beginning in 2014.
Before Fame
He joined the PSG Services after moving to Johannesburg in 1978. In 1981, he joined the trade union movement where he advocated for more rights for fellow workers. He was quickly elected Vice President and later President of the South African Transport and Allied Workers Union. He was then elected Deputy President of the Congress of the People in December of 2008.

He originally belongs to the Tsonga tribe, with the traditional spelling of his last name being "Xilowa".
Family Life
He was born and raised in Olifantshoek, Limpopo, South Africa. He married Wendy Luhabe and together they have four children.
