He settled in Penobscot County, Maine with his wife, Michelle, and his daughter.

In 2011, he entered a Maine primary race for the United States Senate seat of Republican politician Olympia Snow. He was defeated in the primary by Cynthia Dill, who ultimately lost the Senate race to Independent politician Angus King.
