Italian chef and restaurateur known for being the patron of Osteria Francescana, a three-Michelin-star restaurant that is based in his hometown of Modena. He is also known for having been profiled in the 2015 Netflix original series Chef's Table.
Before Fame
He was inspired by his mother, aunt, and grandmother to pursue a career in cooking. He first began as an apprentice to Georges Coigny. After working on the restaurant Le Louis XV, he went on to open Osteria Francescana in March of 1995.

In June of 2016, his restaurant was ranked number one in the World's 50 Best Restaurants after several raving reviews from Espresso, Gambero Rosso, and the Touring Club guides.
