Before Fame

While attending high school, he received Honorable Mention All-State Honors for football in both his junior and senior years. He was also signed as a tight end and a linebacker by Wesley College in Delaware. He and his brother became fascinated by wrestling as children, watching World Wrestling Foundation (WWF) and using their trampoline to practice moves. While in line to purchase tickets for an East Coast Wrestling Association (ECWA) event, their mother was approached by a promoter who ultimately signed the brothers in 2000.

Trivia

Mark and Jay Briscoe often went by the shared title "Dem Boys." They never participated in wrestling in school, despite the fact that the coach for their high school's wrestling team was their own father.

Family Life

His father was the coach for his high school's wrestling team. His mother is named Jana. His brother died in a car accident in January 2023. He has seven children with his wife Brittany Pugh, including his youngest, Murphy Pugh, born in June of 2022.
