Remembered for his vividly-colored, dreamlike images of objects, this Venezuelan painter and sculptor was the 1951 recipient of his country's National Prize for Painting and the 1975 winner of the National Prize for Plastic Arts.

Before Fame

He began drawing during his childhood years and later earned a scholarship to the Caracas School of Fine and Applied Arts.

Family Life

Born to Ramon Guerrero and Georgina Abreu in Turmero, Venezuela, he spent a portion of his childhood in the care of Amelia Borges, who served as his godmother.
