About
Austrian musician and composer best known as the older sister of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. As an adolescent, she was recognized as a talented harpsichord as well as fortepianist and traveled with her father and brother to cities such as Vienna and Paris to play. However, once she became old enough to marry, her parents forbid her from continuing to travel with her brother to perform.
Before Fame
Her father Leopold Mozart, a notable composer himself, began teaching her how to play the harpsichord when she was seven years old.
Trivia
Despite not being able to pursue a public career as a composer, she played piano throughout her life and would spend three hours a day practicing.
Family Life
In 1784, she married a magistrate, Johann Baptist Franz von Berchtold, and the couple had three children together.
