Maret Grothues

About

Dutch volleyball player who represented the Netherlands at the 2016 Summer Olympics. In 2021, she joined Greek volleyball team Panathinaikos. She and her teammates met with victory in the 2021-22 Greek Women's Volleyball Cup. 

Before Fame

She was inspired to pursue volleyball after seeing the Netherlands win gold at the 1996 Summer Olympics. 

Trivia

She was named Best Server in the 2010 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship. In 2021, she visited the Balearic Island of Formentera. 

Family Life

She and field hockey player Marcel Balkestein tied the knot in 2014.
