She left her native Poland for New York City during the 1920s. While living in New York, she studied at Hunter College and at the Jewish Teachers Seminary.

Her six volumes of Yiddish poetry explore Holocaust themes.
Family Life
She was born in the Polish-Ukraine region of Galicia to Hasidic Jewish parents. She was married twice: to Aaron Rappaport and, after his death, to Moshe Besser.
Associated With
Many of Lee's family members died in the Holocaust, as did famous diarist Anne Frank.
