About
English road manager and personal assistant who most notably worked for The Beatles from 1963 until their breakup in 1970. He was hired by their manager, Brian Epstein to be a roadie and bodyguard. He contributed to recordings and appeared in some of the films that the band made. He wrote his memoirs in a book called Living the Beatles' Legend.
Before Fame
In the early 1960's he worked as a telephone operator for the post office as well as a bouncer at a club part-time. The Beatles were the resident group at Liverpool's Cavern Club where he worked when Evans first heard them perform during his lunch break.
Trivia
He was in charge of driving the Beatles on tour and for setting up and testing the equipment. He and his co-worker would forge signatures on memorabilia for the band members when they were too busy to do so. After the band split, he found work as a music producer - most notably working with Badfinger. He was shot and killed at the age of 40 by police at his home when he threatened officers with an air rifle.
Family Life
He was born and raised in Liverpool. His parents were Frederick and Joan Evans. He had a sister named Pam. In 1961 he married a girl from Liverpool named Lily. Together they had a son, Gary, and a daughter, Julie.
Associated With
George Harrison first recommended him as a doorman to the Cavern Club's manager.
