Law professor who rose to prominence as the dean of University at Buffalo Law School between 2007-2014. He has been named a SUNY Distinguished Professor, and began his time as the Vice Chair of the International Development Law Organization since 2016.
Before Fame
He studied for his undergraduate degree at the University of Nairobi. He would later earn his LLM and SJD from Harvard Law School in 1985 and 1987 respectively.
Trivia
He was named one of the most influential black lawyers in the US by On Being A Black Lawyer in 2012. He previously helped to establish the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission in 2008.
Family Life
He was born the second of seven children in Kenya. He shares three children with his wife Athena.
