Before Fame

He studied music at Budapest's Royal Academy of Music from 1911 until 1922. His teachers included such notables as Hans Koessler, Zoltán Kodály, and Leo Weiner.

He was asked by Béla Bartók to be the soloist for the 1933 Hungarian premiere of the composer's Piano Concerto No. 2, with Otto Klemperer directing.
