Lionel Jospin

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, under the presidential administration of Jacques Chirac, this Socialist Party politician held office as Prime Minister of France. He had previously served as both Minister of Sport and Minister of National Education.

Before Fame

After attending both the National School of Administration and the Paris Institute of Political Studies, he was awarded a high-ranking position within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During his time as Prime Minister, Jospin arranged for the state subsidization of low-income workers.

Family Life

He and his first wife, Elisabeth, raised children named Eva and Jospin Hugo. He married his second wife, feminist author and philosopher Sylviane Agacinski, in 1994.

In 2002, conservative politician Jean-Pierre Raffarin succeeded Jospin as Prime Minister of France.
