About

Known for his 41-year piano-duet collaboration with Frank Hutchens. For 30 years he was ABC Radio's Mr Melody Man. He wrote film scores for Charles Chauvel's 'Forty Thousand Horsemen' in 1940, and Ken G. Hall's 'Tall Timbers' in 1937.

Before Fame

He was an accompanist for flautist John Lemmoné and opera singer Dame Nellie Melba, the latter collaboration beginning in 1922 and continuing until her death.

Trivia

He was a long-standing member and eventually president of the arts-oriented Sydney Savage Club.

Family Life

His English parents encouraged his musical development, and he was working as an organist and chorister by the time he was 17.

Associated With

He worked with Isador Goodman at the New South Wales Conservatorium of Music. They both died on the same day.
