Linda Martin

About

Famous for winning the 1992 Eurovision Song Contest and for recording several hit singles with the band Chips, she is also notable for her solo singles "Why Me?" (which rose to number one on Irish charts in 1992) and "Terminal 3" (which reached number seven in 1984).

Before Fame

She became a member of Chips in the late 1960s and soon thereafter recorded the hit singles "Love Matters" (1975) and "Goodbye Goodbye" (1977).

Trivia

She hosted the RTE network's game show The Lyrics Board and also assisted in the production of season one of The X Factor UK.

Family Life

Born to a family with Italian and Scottish roots, she spent her youth in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Associated With

She and Swedish singer Elisabeth Andreassen are two of the only performers in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest to have achieved both first and second-place finishes in the competition.
