About
Hall of Fame defensive tackle who became the first-ever draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers in 1950. He played in every 49ers game for 14 years and was eventually selected to the NFL's 50th Anniversary All-Time Team.
Before Fame
He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He later attended the University of Minnesota on a football scholarship and became a two-time All-American.
Trivia
In the offseason, he wrestled professionally under the ring name Leo "The Lion" Nomellini.
Family Life
He is survived by his daughter Lane and his son Drew.
