About

Considered a founding father of the internet, he and his team at the Advanced Research Projects Agency created the ARPANET, a predecessor to the internet. He received many awards such as the Draper Prize and the IEEE Computer Pioneer Award.

Before Fame

He was a student at MIT where he earned a bachelors, masters, and PhD degree all in electrical engineering. His thesis was called "Machine Perception of Three-Dimensional Solids".

Trivia

He approached AT&T in the 1970s about taking over the ARPANET to make it public but they declined.

Family Life

Roberts got married and divorced four times, but at the time of his death he was with physician Tedde Rinker.
