He was born in Taree, New South Wales, Australia, and his parents are of Aboriginal descent from Birrbay and Wiradjuri people. He was born Latrell Goolagong, but he changed his name to his father's surname as a teenager. His brother Shaquai plays for the Sydney Roosters U-20 squad. He and his partner Brielle have two children.
