About
An American fiction writer and screenwriter known for his Texas and Old West settings, he is most famous for his 1985 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, Lonesome Dove. He also wrote Terms of Endearment, a 1975 novel that was adapted into an Academy Award-winning film.
Before Fame
He received his B.A. from the University of North Texas and his M.A. from Rice University. He published his first novel, Horseman, Pass By, in 1961.
