Before Fame
He went to high school at the George Washington Carver High School in Birmingham, Alabama. He then went on to play in college for Morehead State from 1966 to 1969. He was picked by the Suns in the fourth round of the 1969 NBA Draft.
Trivia
His 2,186 rebounds have been the 17th most in Phoenix Suns franchise history. He would later play with the Virginia Squires in the American Basketball Association during the 1974-1975 season.
