Laila Gohar

About

Internationally recognised artist  and visual storyteller who uses food as her creative medium. Her artistic eye for creation has gained her a following of over 280,000 on Instagram, where she posts under the handle lailacooks.

Before Fame

With her sister, Nadia Gohar, she launched the tableware design label, Gohar World, in 2022, which sells everything from baguette-shaped candles to lace-trimmed rubber gloves. That same year she collaborated with the popular Danish design company, HAY, to design a homeware collection.

Trivia

Her work has been shown in museums and galleries all over the world. She is known for her high profile collaborations with labels like Prada, Hermès, Comme des Garçons, Perrier-Jouët, and Sotheby's. She is also a contributing writer for the FT HTSI, where she writes a regular column called How To Host It.

Family Life

She was born in Egypt, and she has lived and worked in the US for the last decade. She is based in New York but works worldwide on location, most often in London, Paris, Milan and Venice. She has a son named Papi.
