Before Fame

His mother put him in piano lessons at the age of six and by the time he was in 8th grade he'd started playing the sax and drums.

He met his business partner Ernest "Tuo" Clark in Chicago and the two got their first big break by serving as co-executive producers on an album for the Mims.

Family Life

He credits his mother with encouraging his love of music and he has one son.
