Prior to his acting career, he attended Bangalore University. He officially began his acting career in 2004.

He received an award for 'Best Supporting Actor' during the 2014 Ananda Vikatan Cinema Awards ceremony due to his performance in the drama film Haridas. He also received a nomination for 'Best Actor' during the 2014 Filmfare Awards.

He is a native of Channapatna, India. His wife is actress Vishala.
