About

Irish-American architect who won the Pritzker Prize in 1982. He designed and master planned more than 200 international projects, including devising the Metropolitan Museum of Art master plan in 1967. 

Before Fame

He graduated from University College Dublin in 1945 and immediately was hired by the famed Michael Scott, followed by a stint with Maxwell Fry in London during the latter part of 1946. He was accepted by Harvard, Yale, and the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1947.

Trivia

His work included the Oakland Museum of California, The Ford Foundation in New York, and many other museums, theaters, corporate offices, and banks.

Family Life

His family was residing in Dublin when he was born, but they raised him in Mitchelstown, County Cork. He and his wife had five children.
