A retired civil servant and social democratic politician from Turkey, known for his expertise in economics. Currently, he holds the position of leader of the Republican People's Party and has been leading the opposition in Turkey since 2010. Previously, he served as a member of parliament representing Istanbul's second electoral district from 2002 to 2015, and from 7th June 2015 onwards, he has been representing İzmir's second electoral district.

He completed his primary and secondary education in several locations including Erciş, Tunceli, Genç, and Elazığ. Pursuing his academic journey, he enrolled in the Ankara Academy of Economics and Commercial Sciences, now known as Gazi University, where he studied Economics and successfully graduated in 1971. In his younger years, he supported himself financially by engaging in the trade of goods.

Family Life
Kemal Karabulut was born on December 17, 1948, in the village of Ballıca, located in the Nazımiye district of Tunceli Province in eastern Turkey. His parents, Kamer and Yemuş, had seven children, and he was the fourth among them.
