About
Nintendo composer and who is sound director for the Animal Crossing and Yoshi franchises. His trademark move is inserting a hidden song - now called Tokata's Song - into the games he works on as an easter egg. He is also the voice of Yoshi, Birdo, Professor E. Gadd and Captain Olimar.
Before Fame
He attended the Kunitachi College of Music. He has been behind the music of several games since the Game Boy era. He joined the company in the Nintendo R&D1 department, composing for Mario Paint and Super Mario Land 2. He was the director for Wii music.
Trivia
He has also provided voice acting for Pikmin 2. The character K.K. Slider in Animal Crossing is based on him and plays Tokata's Song on request. He also plays the vibraphone as a member of the jazz band A Slice of Life. He lent his vibraphone skills to Mario Kart 8. He can also play guitar, bass and piano.
