She was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised with three sisters: Kimberly, Kristine and Kariann. She is of Danish, German, and Polish descent. She began dating Joshua Kushner, the founder of Thrive Capital, in 2012. She and Kushner got engaged in July 2018; they married in October of 2018. Their first child together, a son named Levi Joseph, was born on March 11, 2021. She revealed that she was expecting her second child at the Met Gala in May 2023. She gave birth to a son named Elijah Jude in July 2023.
