Widely known as the victim of a highly publicized murder in Japan in the late 1980s. She was held captive and tortured for 40 days before succumbing to her injuries in January 1989.

She attended Yashio-Minami High School. She worked part-time during her after school hours at an electronics retailer.
Trivia
She had planned to accept a job with the electronics retailer following her high school graduation and before her abduction. Around 100 people knew about her capture, but did not report it due to fear of retaliation by the yakuza.

She is survived by her parents and two brothers.
