About
Croatian architect, graphic designer, and urban planner whose work was influenced by surrealism and abstract art. He joined the avant-garde Zenit movement in the 1920s. Also known by pseudonym Jo Klek.
Before Fame
He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. He was awarded the Grand Prix and the Order of the Legion of Honor by the French government in 1937 for his contributions to Paris' World Exhibition.
Trivia
He received the Vladimir Nazor Award for lifetime achievement in 1969.
Family Life
His wife, Silvana, donated much of his work to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb.

He and artist Fernando Villapol were both known for their abstract, surrealist works.
