Joseph Kallinger
About
American serial killer who murdered three people and tortured four families in 1974 and 1975. He committed this crime spree with his 12-year-old son. He was sentenced to life in prison and died in 1996.
Before Fame
He dreamed of becoming a playwright. In ninth grade, he played the part of Ebenezer Scrooge in a local performance of A Christmas Carol.
Trivia
He pleaded insanity to three counts of murder. He was found sane and sentenced to life in prison on October 14, 1976.
Family Life
He was adopted as a child, but his adoptive parents were abusive. He had seven children with his two wives. He was abusive toward his own family.
Associated With
He was interviewed in jail by the author Flora Rheta Schreiber, who wrote a book about him. The author's earlier book, Sybil, was made into a 1976 TV film starring Sally Field.
