About
Twitch streamer, musician, and gameplay content creator of video games such as Among Us and Valorant. He has amassed a following of more than 90,000 subscribers on his self-titled YouTube channel, where he posts his music, tutorials, stream content, and more. Some of the songs for which he became best known were written in honor of well-known Twitch and YouTube streamers, including "Poki Poki," an ode to Pokimane, and "Do It Like Rae," a tune dedicated to Valkyrae. Because of the fan-style adoration expressed toward celebrity subjects in these songs, he is often credited with being the originator of a musical genre that his followers have satirically dubbed simpcore.
Before Fame
He started out streaming exclusively on his johnoftheforesttv Twitch account, where he would write raps and make beats with chat participants, hold sessions with other writers, and teach viewers about how modern pop music is made. He began posting content on his YouTube channel at the end of 2019. His first video on the platform was a song titled "Chill with Bill," which he had created for a Twitch streamer named K_BillTV.
Trivia
Having been accredited by many of his fans and viewers as the creator of simpcore music, he decided to play along with the acknowledgment and utilize his platform to convert the traditionally derogatory term into a positive one, describing someone who shows appreciation for their loved ones or celebrity inspirations. In May of 2021, he took this a step further by officially proclaiming June 3rd as National Simp Day with the National Day Archives & Registry.
Family Life
In his July 2021 YouTube video, "How I Made 'Do It Like Rae,'" he shared his entire process of creating the popular song, "Do It Like Rae." Some of the lyrics for the song were written in Tagalog, and in this video, many of his family members, including his mother, father, grandmother, uncle, godmother, and sister, were shown helping him to accurately craft this portion of the lyrics and encouraging his progress.
Associated With
His song "Smooth Talker" featured pop singer Megan Lee and was written for/about Twitch streamer and YouTuber Sykkuno. His YouTube videos have featured other well-known streamers reacting to his music such as Lilypichu, GreekGodx, and Mizkif.
