Before Fame

He was part of a high school garage band known as Johnny Stewart and the Furies, which was heavily influenced by Elvis Presley and Buddy Holly.

Trivia

He became a member of The Kingston Trio after the departure of founder Dave Guard in 1961. He was a member of the Trio until they disbanded in 1967.

Family Life

He married Buffy Ford Stewart. His brother was We Five founder Michael Stewart.

He worked with Stevie Nicks on his popular album Bombs Away Dream Babies from which emerged Gold, the 1979 #5 hit.
