Joe Schmidt

About

Former rugby player and athlete turned coach that began his career as an assistant with the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union team. Since then, he has coached rugby in several different leagues across many international regions like France, New Zealand, Ireland, and Australia.

Before Fame

He is a graduate of Tararua College. At that time, he was training to become a school teacher. 

Trivia

While coaching Team Ireland, he his led his squad to victory at the 2018 World Rugby Cup. That very same year, he was named World Rugby Coach of the Year. In January of 2024, he signed a multi-year deal with the Australian men's national team.

Family Life

He lives along with his wife, Kellie, and their family. He is a father of four kids.
