He was a poor student and could not gain acceptance to a teachers' college. Nevertheless, he taught as an un-credentialed teacher at South Milford Primary School.

Family Life

After completing his service as a World War II-era Royal Air Force photographer, he married Sally Hilda Gladys "Sally" Sexton. He died of cancer at the age of eighty-one.
