Screenwriter and director known for his work with the British film company Hammer Films. Some of his more well-known films include The Curse of Frankenstein, Dracula, and The Horror of Frankenstein, which was released in 1970.
Before Fame
He was educated at Ewell Castle School and at Llandaff Cathedral School. He began his film career at 16 when he worked as a clapper boy. He eventually worked as a third assistant director on Ealing Studios productions before joining Exclusive Films before it became Hammer Films in 1949. He wrote his first official screenplay for the 1956 film X the Unknown.
Trivia
He wrote a book called Fireball that remained unpublished and unknown until its rediscovery in 2019. He wrote more than 70 on-screen projects throughout his prolific career.

He was born in Kimmel Bay, North Wales. His father was an estate agent. He was married three times, his last wife was Mary Peach. He married Mary Peach in 1995. He had one child named Mark. He died of old age on August 19th, 2011 in London, England.
