About
President of China who succeeded Deng Xiaoping in 1993. He led China for ten years and notably oversaw the peaceful transfer of sovereignty of Hong Kong from the United Kingdom to China. He served as Chairman of the Central Military Commission until March 2005.
Before Fame
In 1947, he graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University with an electrical engineering degree.
Trivia
He replaced Zhao Ziyang as General Secretary of the Communist Party of China following the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989. He passed away at the age of 96.

He married Wang Yeping; the couple has two sons together.
