Before Fame

She received her bachelor's degree from the Virginia Military Institute in 2003. She completed her Master's degree at Virginia State University and her Juris Doctor from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego. 

Trivia

She proposed and passed the Equal Rights Amendment in 2020, making Virginia the 38th state to ratify the constitutional amendment. 

Family Life

She married Jeffrey Foy, who she met at Virginia Military Institute. She had two twin boys. 

Associated With

She is a member of the Democratic party, like Barack Obama. If she wins the gubernatorial race, she will replace Ralph Northam and be the first female governor of Virginia and the first African American female governor elected in the United States.
