Professional center-back for France's national team from 1972 to 1976. He played Division 1 soccer for Nîmes, Nice and Paris Saint-Germain before retiring in 1981 at the age of 33.
Before Fame
He worked in a rubber manufacturing plant. He started playing soccer around Loiret.
Trivia
In 1982 he suffered from a ligament rupture and had to be hospitalized. Due to complications and mistakes made by an anesthetist and a trainee, he suffered from bronchospasm which forced him into a coma until his death in September 2021, having been in a coma for 39 years.
Family Life
He grew up in Dakar until going on a pilgrimage with his grandmother to France when he was ten. He was married to his wife Bernadette in 1969. Together, they had two children named Laurent and Frédéric. His wife took care of him until his death.
