Jason Calacanis

About

Angel investor who invested into the seed round of Uber.  He also hosts the popular Podcast "This Week In Startups" in which he interviews  influential entrepreneurs and investors.  The Podcast has produced over 1,000 episodes.  He also launched a Podcast called All-In in 2020 alongside three of this closest friends.

Before Fame

He co-founded Weblogs, Inc. in 2003, and sold the company to AOL two years later.

Trivia

In addition to Uber, he's invested in several other successful consumer companies including Calm and Robinhood.  A few of the well known entrepreneurs he's interviewed on his Podcast are Dave Portnoy, Mark Cuban, and Travis Kalanick.  He's also founded consumer tech companies including Mahalo and Inside.

Family Life

In 2015, he moved from Los Angeles to San Francisco to focus on an start-up he founded called Launch.  He married Jade Li.

Associated With

He has said that he ultimately dreams of purchasing the New York Knicks, which is a similar goal that entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk discusses in regards to owning the New York Jets.
