Former defenseman that played hockey professionally for nine years before retiring in the year 2002. During his career, he primarily played in the East Coast Hockey League, the American Hockey League, and the International Hockey League. After retiring, he began his professional coaching career. In August of 2016, he was hired to be the head coach of the Colorado Avalanche.
Before Fame
Prior to his professional career, he played junior hockey for the Saskatoon Blades. Despite going undrafted in the 1993 NHL draft, he began playing hockey professionally for the Huntington Blizzard of the East Coast Hockey League.
Trivia
After leading the Colorado Avalanche to the 2022 Stanley Cup, he became the first coach to win a league championship in the NHL, ECHL, AHL, and the IHL. After capturing his 265th career NHL win in January of 2023, he became the Avalanche's all-time leader in wins.

He lives along with his wife Susan and their family. He is a father of two children.
