Former Poet Laureate of New Hampshire whose works include Constance, Let Evening Come, and The Boat of Quiet Hours. She was the 1994 recipient of the PEN/Voelcker Award for Poetry.
Before Fame
She attended the University of Michigan. She published her debut poetry collection, From Room to Room, in 1978.
Trivia
She struggled with depression throughout her adult life and died of leukemia in her late forties.

She married fellow poet Donald Hill on June 19, 1943 in Norfolk, Virginia.
