English politician who is known for being a prominent member of the Conservative party. He was appointed by Theresa May from 2016 to 2018 as the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, and then from 2018 to 2019 as Secretary of State of Housing. He was appointed by Boris Johnson as Minister of State of Security for Home Office in 2020.
Before Fame
He studied law at the University of Exeter and then joined a law firm called Jones Day. He went into politics in 2005, winning the election as the Member of Parliament (MP) of Hornchurch. He then became the MP for Old Bexley and Sidcup from 2010 until his death.
Trivia
He was sworn in as a member of Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council in June 2015. In 2021, he stepped down from Minister of State of Security for Home Office due to lung cancer.

He was married to Cathrine Anne Mamelok and they had two daughters and a son.
