Before Fame

She was an army brat and moved around a lot as a kid. She started her YouTube channel after completing her bachelor's degree, when she realized that she couldn't find any beauty videos made by multiracial women, who shared her hair type. 

Trivia

It took her a long time to fully appreciate her curls. Both she and her sister were obsessed with having their hair straightened and getting out all the curls. Their step-mother always told them they should wear it curly because of how beautiful it is. She didn't truly realize that until later and uses her videos to share her love of going natural with the internet.

Family Life

She has a twin sister, Simone, who owns a hair salon called Venita Hair Boutique. She began dating Mark Godbolt in 2016.
