Acclaimed cellist who was most well known for her association with Elgar's Cello Concerto in E Minor and who has performed with numerous orchestras including the London Philharmonic and Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra.
Before Fame
She started playing at a young age after she heard a cello on the radio and told her mother she wanted one. In 1960, after winning several local competitions, she won the Gold Medal of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Trivia
She was the subject of the 1998 film Hilary and Jackie which was received with controversy due to allegations of stretching the truth of her private life.
