50th Vice President of the United States and author who is rose to fame with the acclaim of his 2016 book "Hillbilly Elegy." In July 2024, Donald Trump selected him as his vice presidential nominee during the Republican National Convention. His political fame has led him to amass more than 1.1 million followers on his jdvance Instagram account. 

Before Fame

He spent time in the Marine Corps prior to attending the Ohio State University. He went on to obtain a law degree from Yale University. 

Trivia

He previously worked as a Venture Capitalist at Steve Case's firm. In 2016, he published the memoir, Hillbilly Elegy. The book won him the Audie Award for Nonfiction the following year. He has been an investment partner with Revolution LLC. He publicly opposes the United States Respect for Marriage Act. 

Family Life

His full name is James David Vance. He and his wife Usha have three kids. He and his wife met in law school.
