About
Politician most remembered for serving as the 18th prime minister of Estonia. Since 2016, he has also been the Leader of the Centre Party. Prior to his incumbency, he had served as vice-president of the Riigikogu from 2007 to 2016 and as mayor of the capital city of Tallinn from 2005 to 2007. During his time as mayor, he initiated the European Green Capital Award program.

He earned both a bachelor's degree in business management and a master's degree in economic sciences from Tallinn University of Technology. He also graduated from the University of Tartu, with a bachelor's degree in law.
Trivia
Among his many accolades, he has been the recipient of the Netherlands' Knight Grand Cross of the Order of Orange-Nassau, Latvia's Grand Officer of the Order of the Three Stars, and Estonia's Order of the National Coat of Arms, 2nd class. He was also honored with Ukraine's Member 2nd Class of the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise in October 2022.
