Comedian, actor, and writer who has performed at comedy festivals including the Portland Queer Comedy Festival, the Bridgetown Comedy Festival, and Comedy Central's Clusterfest. She has also appeared on television shows including The Movie Show, Take My Wife, and The Guest List, the latter of which also featured comedians such as Maria Bamford, Ron Funches, Cameron Esposito, and Michelle Buteau.
Before Fame
As a child, she sang in elementary school chorus and played piano for ten years. She was also involved in athletics, quiz bowl, and science club. She was greatly inspired by Ellen DeGeneres and wished to follow her same career path by becoming a standup comedian. She began training at Second City when she was just 16 years old. She went on to attend Northwestern University before transferring to the University of California, Berkeley, where she graduated with a degree in Asian-American studies.
Trivia
She was named by the KQED radio network as one of its Women to Watch in 2016. That same year, she was also included on the SFist's list of the Bay Area's 11 Best Stand-Up Comics. She has also been identified as a standout talent by the San Francisco Chronicle and Vulture by New York Magazine, among others.
Family Life
She grew up as an only child. She was raised primarily in the suburbs of Chicago. Her grandparents would frequently stay with her family when they came to visit. Her parents separated around the time she entered high school. From a young age, she always knew she was different, but did not realize she was gay until she attended summer camp at the University of Chicago. She had a brief physical involvement with a former female best friend. However, neither of the pair wished to place a label on their relationship.
Associated With
She performed on a 2019 episode of the show Straight Up, Stand Up with fellow comedians Ify Nwadiwe and Becky Robinson. In 2023, she was a featured comic on Iliza's Locals, a three-part comedy special arranged by comedian Iliza Shlesinger.
